At the Battle Of Kima during the Savage Resurgence, the Legion on the ground under General Chhun faced many challenges along the battlespace. One of the primary threats of the conflict involved the use of repurposed legion tech that had landed on the market decades, even centuries after their use.
The most dangerous of these on the ground was the Korodon 19 Infantry Support Mech.Â
Dubbed the K-19, the Korodon was in essence, an AI piloted tank. Agile and heavily armored, it differed from the warbots of the time, as it was a throwback to older autonomous systems. Where the standard mechs supporting the legion were often man shaped in their design to promote mobility over a wide range of terrain, the K-19s sported the flat tank bodies of the soldier driven counterparts, capable of negotiating multiple types of terrain with their multi-wheeled chassis. In the event of getting stuck, a short duration repulsor could float the bot over most obstacles until it could engage its primary drive system.
The K-19 was originally designed for the Kiomar Conflict, where a Savage incursion centered on a city within an oasis. Fighting across the very flat, spacious desert outside the city provided incoming legionnaires little in the way of cover as they fought for entry into the metropolis. The answer to leejes being shot like fish in a barrel was to provide them with cover that could move, shoot, and communicate as they could.Â
The K-19 package came equipped with a twin barreled reciprocating blaster cannon and sophisticated sensor package, providing accurate support by fire platforms by the legionnaires maneuvering behind them. In a pinch, legionnaires could take control of the K-19s, operating them as drones on the battlefield to tailor the asset to their needs.Â
Smoke dispensers and both active and passive jamming systems allowed the leejes to advance to targets in plain sight. The systems worked to disrupt the sensor systems used by Savage force, creating a dark blanket for the legionnaires to advance through.
The K-19 fell out of service along with other warbots because of innovations in anti bot technology. Ion based disruptor weapons, like the bot popper grenades, made it all too easy to stop systems like the K-19 in their tracks.Â
The Korodon company continued to market the tank-bots as security and military grade protection for settlements along galaxy’s edge, as long as colonists could afford the price tag.Â
