Airpower at a Decent Price

Nothing can be so terrifying for a soldier than to have his enemy show up with air support. Running fast moving aircraft capable of dealing damage from the sky can take a half-baked enemy force and turn them into a nightmare for Republic forces trying to keep a lid on the brush fire conflicts along galaxy’s edge.

Chief among these was the K-13 Preyhunter fighter starcraft. Capable of atmospheric and space flight, the K-13 was the fighter of choice for pirates and the insurgents of the Mid Core Rebellion against the Republic. An older model plane, the K-13 had many aspects that made it attractive for private security and confident criminals outside of Repub space. First, as legitimate governments decommissioned older fighters, it provided a thriving parts market for those still running Preyhunter squadrons. And second, the Preyhunter's declassified nature allowed manufacturers to produce knockoffs for militaries in need of an airborne bang on a budget.

Boasting a simple design, the K-13 Preyhunter is a winged snub nosed fighter with a medium blaster cannon on each wing. Those with Night Market connections might even find the baryon torpedo that was supposed to outfit every model. A good way for the same merchants to close the deal with potential warlord customers was to remind them of the shield generator that came standard in even the oldest of K-13s. Typically finished in a brown and yellow color scheme with a gunmetal belly, it wasn’t unheard of to have some underworld marketeer decorate the hull below the cockpit.
